Wake Over Support Worker (full-time and casual)
Hōhepais a disability support service in the Hawke’s Bay for people with intellectualdisabilities. These people are full of life, and you will be helping them toreach their potential!
Self-screening check: Please consider this role carefully. The position involves supporting people with intellectual disabilities who can display challenging behaviours, and who have experienced trauma and mental injury. You will be asked to work closely with people with intellectual disabilities and build a lasting working relationships with them. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate strategies for maintaining resilience, professional boundaries and personal wellbeing when supporting people with intellectual disability.
We offer a competitive wage of between $26.10- $32.01 (Wake Over work only)
Thisis an overnight role; normal hours of work would be 2100-0700 and you will needto be awake during that time. This is not a sleepover role. In this roleyou will be providing support for our people overnight, which includes a lot ofcomputer work, so computer literacy is required. We are looking for afull-time worker, and several casual workers. Please indicate you interest in your application form.
As a Wakeover Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in supporting people with intellectual disabilities—many of whom live with complex mental health needs and may display high-energy or challenging behaviours. This is an awake overnight role, requiring you to stay alert, calm, and compassionate throughout the night. You’ll respond to any needs that arise, ensuring a safe and reassuring environment. Your resilience and understanding of disability will help you see beyond behaviours to the person within, recognising their strengths and potential. We’re looking for intuitive, dependable people who are respectful, observant, and committed to making a difference. If you bring patience, a steady presence, and a sense of humour, you’ll help create moments of comfort and connection—even in the quiet hours.
