The people we support have intellectual disabilities and a range of other complexities. We are looking for a Teacher Aide to support our Classroom Teacher and Students. The ideal person for this role will display patience, maturity and integrity. 

This role is for term time only, working 30 hours a week, we are also looking for casual candidates, please identify this in your application.

You will be working alongside young people with intellectual disabilities with the belief that they can do anything and can learn to be able and independent. Ideal applicants will have experience supporting learning and development programs for students who have diverse learning needs. To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have the abilities to both display empathy and respect and enable people to achieve their goals and plans
  • Have good communication skills. Be able to communicate clearly and appropriately with a range of people and be able to maintain accurate records.
  • Be trustworthy and have high ethical standards and be able to respect confidentiality and privacy.
  • Have a mature attitude and good interpersonal skills; this includes being practical and 'down to earth' about the nature of the role, and being able to work with people who may have high support needs and challenging behaviour, in a calm and professional manner.
  • Be able to manage the physical and emotional aspects of the role.
  • Previous experience and/or training would be an advantage, but a positive attitude and approach, and a willingness to learn is important.
