This role is for an experienced registered classroom teacher, in our special school. We are guided by the frameworks of Steiner and the NZ Curriculum with a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bicultural practice. We are looking for a teacher who has knowledge in working with ākonga/learners with special needs.
In this role you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging varied lessons aligned with curriculum standards
- Assess monitor, and report of student progress
- Work with school and residential staff to support learning and development
- Contribute to curriculum development and leadership (as delegated)
- Maintain a positive and inclusive environment
- Support staff and ākonga/learners in positive behaviour support
- Work through principles of trauma informed practice.

As an independent school, our remuneration framework is informed by the relevant collective agreement; however, it will differ from state school salary scales. The base salary for a trained and registered teacher will be determined by qualifications and experience, with a formal salary assessment completed once the appointment is confirmed.
Please note that the 90-day trial period will apply to any successful applicant who hasn’t previously worked for Hohepa Hawke’s bay.
