At Hōhepa, our people are passionate about working alongside the people we support as they journey to live their life to the fullest. At our heart it is our aim to empower and support our people to live a happy and rewarding life. Nga taonga kei roto I tou kete matauranga | What you bring

This role is for a registered classroom teacher, in our special school, led by the principles of Steiner. We are looking for teacher who has knowledge in working with ākonga/learners with special needs. We offer a close-knit school team, and small class sizes, with support from our team of experienced Teacher Aides and the wider Hohepa community.

The ideal candidate will have a strong awareness of Te ao Māori.  A knowledge of how to engage and respond effectively to the individual needs of a range of diverse learners is also essential, reflecting cultural, whānau and individual needs and goals and ensuring that the values and philosophies of Hōhepa are maintained at all times.

You will be working alongside our ākonga/learners with intellectual disabilities with the belief that they can do anything and can learn to be able and independent. Some of the people we support can display challenging behaviours, therefore requiring applicants with a mature approach, who can cope with the mental and physical demands of this role. This can be a challenging role, but also highly rewarding as you journey alongside people to support their development.
