We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a Trained Music Therapist to join our team based in our School. This role will involve providing interactive group music sessions with a range of different class groups, as well as individual therapy centered on the learning needs of the people we support/ākonga, reflecting cultural, whānau and individual needs and goals and ensuring that the values and philosophies of Hōhepa are maintained at all times.
Hōhepa’s Music Therapy and music delivery supports the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of the people we support, we deliberately use the musical elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, tone and other elements to support the balance and integration of the spirit, soul and body.

The ideal candidate will have a qualification in music therapy and a strong awareness of Te ao Māori. A knowledge of how to engage and respond effectively to the individual needs of a range of diverse learners is also essential. Training in, or an awareness of Anthroposophical Musical Therapy is an advantage.
Our new music therapist will:
- Assess individuals and create unique therapy for the People We Support
- Ability to plan and implement therapy goals for individuals
- Plan and engage in interactive music sessions with different class groups
- Help to develop the ways we engage in music throughout the school
- Work collaboratively with a variety of people
- An understanding and/or willingness to learn about Hōhepa’s special character
- Be willing to participate in our community eg: festivals
